The main characteristic of the 2006 vintage is the month of June, which was very hot dry and sunny.
The flowering in the Côte de Nuits started on the 15th and was extremely fast (lasted only 5 days). The result of this very homogeneous flowering was a homogeneous ripeness for all the berries for harvest.
The month of July stayed very sunny with regular levels of rain. It was the hottest month of July we’ve ever seen in the region.
In August the situation changed suddenly with much fresher temperatures and a lot of humidity. Fortunately, our very thorough work in the vineyards to thin out the leaves as well as the phytosanitary treatments at the beginning of the month, assured a very healthy crop.
The heat came back the first week of September but became more normal afterwards. The drought persisted for the whole month.
We started the harvest on the 23rd of September and finished in the Hautes Côtes on the 5th of October.
The fine climate during September helped us reach a very good level of ripeness with high levels of sugar, good acidity and fine phenolic ripeness.
The wines are showing beautiful intense colours, a good level of acidity and ripe tannic structures.
The aromatic character of each wine reveals the different “terroirs”.
A beautiful classic vintage, which will reach full ripeness between 5 and 10 years of aging, depending the cuvees.
